About Us

ATEh UBEh (aka Sistar Purple & cybiljoy) is a neurodivergent, nonbinary second generation Filipinx American, first generation Texan, storyteller by heart, content creator at leisure, facilitator for healing, and self-taught multidisciplinary artist living in southeast Texas.

ATEh UBEh is a practitioner of anitism and looks to their ancestors for answers, inspiration, and guidance in every aspect of their life. They are also an Animist and give gratitude and acknowledgement to all beings, seen and unseen, as ATEh UBEh creates or consumes in the ordinary realm.

ATEh UBEh is an amalgamation of the multiple personalities embodied in cybiljoy from the moment they could speak to the now. Through ATEh UBEh, their purpose is to facilitate Filipinx American safespaces for healing through storytelling.

ATEh UBEh is a lifelong learner, always open to innovative concepts and ideas that provide healing to beings and the communities they live in.

ATEh UBEh’s inspiration is ever-changing and in constant flux, as they are actively seeking and re-membering their decolonized identity as a diasporic Filipinx. Their artistic practice ranges from filmmaking, photography, performance art, and spoken word, to gel printing, mixed media, and pyrography.

Land Acknowledgement

We would like to acknowledge the original inhabitants of the land on which We occupy. The City of Houston, League City, and the Gulf Coast Region is within the traditional territories and unceded land of the Sana, Atakapa-Ishak, Akokisa, and Karankawa peoples. 

We also recognize the native peoples that share the southeast Texas region, including the Tonkawa and Coahuiltecan, and that what we build here today is connected to their community ancestry.
